About us

On the cultural map of Montenegro, or Southern Europe generally, there is one more pearl, the ELEN ART Gallery in the ancient walled-in Old Town of Budva on the blue Adriatic Sea, which in addition to its basic activity of presenting and promoting Montenegrin and international fine arts, has aspirations to become a center for creative arts of different cultural backgrounds and creative directions: painters, sculptors, theoreticians and critics of art, writers, poets, film and theater writers and producers, publishers and all those in the seven arts and others, who with their spiritual and creative achievements in their respective fields of endeavor are invited to join ranks with us in this brave new world of local functional autonomy emerging New Commonwealth of (smaller) Nations and contribute to the development and value judgement of culture on a global scale. It is especially important to underscore the readiness to educate young generations of creative artists through workshops and art studios which will open in time within the ancient city walls of Budva, where the gallery is located.

Our Vision

In fact, a perfect model for such activity is the St. Paul de' Vence (FR) creative community near Nice, France, where literally hundreds of art studios, art shops, smaller art galleries, exqusite mini resturants and caffes punctuate the walled-in hillside, where Marc Chagall was laid to rest and other continental greats.
Therefore, this Gallery aspires to develop into a vital focal point, a spiritual-cultural center which will open its doors to culture ambassadors of different profiles, and demonstate their openness by adapting itself to changes which appear on the dynamic scene of contemporary fine arts. Similar in form and content to other cultural space institutions it will work in tune with the new worldwide trends based on profit, which will assure its independent financial success. The marketing or sale activity, as part of its business, will have a mission to offer its end-users - be it buyers, investors, colectors, tourists and other visitors - adequate services that will improve with time as the gallery gains its foothold in the continental creative community. Consequently, this Gallery will operate in accordance with the principles of cultural management, improving its contemporary functionalism and professional use of the gallery space offering its multi-floor facilities for smaller private exhibits, poetry readings, creative seminars, symposia, conferences, meetings (arrangements for cocktails, luncheons and private gatherings), presentations of newly published books, and other cultural activities.

Where are we?
Despite Budva's fame and glory and successful survival for millennia, one thing we can say about the Old Town is that space is at a premium. But wherever we have traveled in the area over the years art galleries of any major size, especially those in the private sector, are awfully stingy - not only in the display space, but also in the quality of art works on sale. Therefore, we located a multi-story building with ample space for a major art gallery with of 3.60 meters high ceilings. The building is under protection of the state Historical Monuments Institute, therefore we have been careful to preserve its archeological heritage.
